Art of the Day: Van Gogh, The Red Vineyard, November 1888. Oil on canvas, 72.9 × 90.9 cm. The Pushkin State Museum, Moscow.

The Red Vineyard was once believed t...o be the only painting Van Gogh sold during his lifetime. Anna Boch, a Belgian painter, bought the canvas for 400 francs (roughly equivalent to 1500 US dollars today). "This isn’t much," the artist confessed in a letter to his mother, "but that’s why I keep working."

That's the thing about gratitude... A little tends to go a long way.
